A little heads up for frog lovers out there. Ten minutes of top water action on the river with explosive takes, misses, lost fish but I won in the end.
I normally fish them in water where there are small jacks, that was the first time i've used them in waters with a better stamp of fish. The one i lost was pushing 10lb at a guess. Give it time and I bet i'll get something bigger, if I can hook the damn thing! lol
Not on a frog, but my pb was on a 7cm surface "popper" and that fish was 27lb.
Great video buddy. Still catch my first on a frog, however I am trying. Think I am going to have to try it in more spots, as I thought it was prodominatley a method for heavy cover, but watching your video, clearly shows it works well with little cover present.
The spot there Glen is about 4ft deep and there is actually some weed coming through. Hard to tell as it isn't floating on the surface or the typical lilies you might target. Three years ago there was weed there but each year since, the early floods have kept it at bay but this year it is out in force. Had a look the other day and the river is down another few inches and the weed is now showing better.
As a side note, i've had a couple of hits in open water but it was hard work most of the time.
Nice update Paul, I've had a couple on the frogs this season, only to around 6lb or so. Do you get any larger ones on the frogs ?
